서기 1959년 3월 중공의 티벳 침략을 피해 탈출하여 인도 북부 다람살라에 67년째 망명 정부를 이끌고 있는 달라이라마가 서기 2025.06.05. 이재명 대통령에게 축하 서신을 보냈다.

달라이라마를 알리는 누리망, 달라이라마 점 컴(dalailama.com)에 따르면 지난 6월 5일 달라이라마는 ‘이재명 후보의 대한민국 대통령 선거 승리를 축하’하는 서한을 보냈다.

서한에서 “오늘날 세계는 매우 어려운 시기를 겪고 있지만, 상호 의존하고 인류가 하나라는 인식이 전 세계에 퍼져나간다.”며 “한반도의 지속적인 평화는 전 세계에 중요하다.”고 평가하였다.

이어 이재명 대통령이 “외교와 대화를 통해 한반도의 지속적인 평화를 확보하려고 끊임없이 노력할 것이라고 확신한다.”고 하였다.

그러면서 ‘한국에서 불교 신자들이 인도를 순례하면서 자신을 만나러 오고 자신은 이들을 정기적으로 만난다’고 밝혔다.

끝으로 “앞으로 닥쳐올 모든 도전을 성공적으로 극복하고, 대한민국 국민의 희망과 염원을 충족시키며, 더욱 조화롭고 평화로운 세상을 만드는데 이바지하시기를 기원한다.”고 덕담을 전하며 축복하였다.

덕담과 축복 서한 원문

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India - His Holiness the Dalai Lama has written to Lee Jae-myung this morning to congratulate him on his victory in the Korean Presidential Election.

“Today the world is passing through very challenging times,” he wrote, “even as there is a growing sense of interdependence and the oneness of humanity across the world. A lasting peace in the Korean peninsula is of vital importance to the entire world. I am sure you will continue to make persistent efforts to secure lasting peace in the region through diplomacy and dialogue.

“In recent years, a growing number of Korean Buddhists has shown an interest in studying at the Centres of Learning we have re-established in India. Meanwhile, I regularly meet Korean Buddhist brothers and sisters who come to India on pilgrimage.

“I wish you every success in meeting whatever challenges lie ahead, fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of South Korea, and contributing to a more harmonious, peaceful world.”

His Holiness concluded by offering his prayers and good wishes.
